OVERVIEW

this site

Finding myself in the position of needing a portfolio for the first time in years, I took the opportunity to redesign my portfolio site and branding, with the intent of using it as a portfolio piece in and of itself.

the problem

My portfolio was outdated in terms of both work and branding.

the goal

Create a new site and brand that showcases my design chops.

wireframes V1

Like any good web or UI design project, I started with wireframes to explore design and functionality, fully knowing what I am capable of building.

DESKTOP MENU V1

(This design was translated across devices, but for the purposes of saving time and space, I am electing to only show the desktop designs of V1)

wireframes V2

After reviewing my work on the V1 wireframes, and viewing the portfolios of peers that I aspire towards, I decided that while functional, my original design was lacking personality. This was my opportunity to gun for a strong visual direction, embody some of my personality along the way, and possibly break some standard conventions. With that in mind, I arrived at these V2 wireframes.

This of course includes my LinkedIn profile, but also my resume, as well as my little mascot.

wireframes V3

You may have noticed that the design has changed, again – this section will soon show the new wireframes, resume, invoices, branding, etc. I received feedback from several trusted sources, and in pursuit of personality and verve, I may have lost some usability and appeal to potential recruiters. So, this most recent design (which you’ve been experiencing), is meant to find a common ground between my first and second design attempts.

the result

You’ve been experiencing it! Hoping to report back that this effort has been well-rewarded.
